West-european folk dancing in Purkersdorf, near Vienna, featuring „Allez, dansez!“

The first Bal Folk organised by "Allez, dansez" in the Stadtsaal

Purkersdorf on the 29th April was a great success. The dancers agreed;

they'd come back again. A 16 year old summed up his evening that way:

"I would never have thought that it would make so much fun! I have

been dancing all night long and I enjoyed it very very much. I will

for sure come back next time!"

The group "Allez, dansez" consists of musicians from Purkersdorf,

Belgium and Greece. They play "Bal Folk" dances; folk dances that can

come from France, Belgium, Greece, Scotland and England, danced with

swing and energy. Playing on Saturday were Marios Anastassiou (guitar and bouzouki), Gitti Sardari (percussion), Susi Mislivecek (accordeon) and Mireille Perreaux (violin

and dance master).

In the Stadtsaal, "Allez, dancez" arranged a workshop before the Bal

where people could learn the dances, which included the well known such

as Cercle, Chapelloise, Schottische and Bourrée but also a few more

unusual ones. For those who needed to keep their energy up, they had

organised a buffet with French and Belgian specialities; quiches and

waffles.

The organiser and dancing master, Mireille said:

"For the musicians it was wonderful to feel the happiness of the

dancers. It didn't matter whether young or old, everybody was

dancing together, it was so nice to see. Such balls are special:

generations dance together and you don’t need any special outfit or

a dance partner. It is that easy! You learn the dance steps quickly

and it doesn't matter so much if you get them wrong. There was

enough space in the ballroom and we are sure that there is room for

more dancers next time - as when you have danced once and enjoyed

it, you will come again, together with your friends! This is what

happened to me some years ago and now I am even playing the music!!

The evening was a real success, the participants were really happy,

it was such a moment of joy and harmony that you want to enjoy more

    often."

Mireille offers dance courses for all generations; from 3 year old to

100. Whether Modern Jazz, Community Dance, Belly Dance, Hula from

Hawaii, Charleston or Bal Folk, everyone will find a course that fits

their taste. As a musician, she cares about the quality of music and as

a teacher, she is concerned about healthy movement and building coordination, but everything with much humour! There is laughter in each dance session!

Each year, in June, she organises a big show for her pupils which

includes a tombola to support a social project for children. Her aim is

to help, through dance, everyone to feel happy within themselves and to

be or to become mentally and physically healthy. She believes

anyone can dance and that dancing has emotional and healing elements

that cannot be overestimated. Mireille also works together with schools

and music schools. Book her for a wedding, birthday, anniversary or a corporate event, and she will put dance magic into your event that your guests will remember.
